ZwillGen’s growth continues with the addition of four new attorneys in Washington, DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.

Paul Rice
Paul Rice has joined ZwillGen as a Legal Director in the Firm’s new Chicago office. Paul has extensive experience advising clients on a range of state and federal privacy and data security laws, state data breach statutes, information security and privacy governance, product security and privacy by design, incident response, vendor contracting, and internal investigations. Prior to joining ZwillGen, Paul served as Senior Manager and Counsel for Discover Financial Services, and most recently as the Associate General Counsel for Information Security and Privacy at the Options Clearing Corporation, where he was responsible for all aspects of enterprise-wide data, technology, privacy, and security legal matters.
Alex Stout
Alex Stout has joined ZwillGen’s Washington, DC office as a Legal Director where he will assist clients with cybersecurity, data privacy, and consumer protection matters. Alex brings to ZwillGen a breadth of experience advising communications and information technology companies on their data protection and privacy practices. He also has significant experience responding to cyber incidents across a wide range of industries.

Prior to joining ZwillGen, Alex was a member of the Connectivity, Privacy, and Information practice of Latham & Watkins LLP, and served as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity & Communications at the Department of Homeland Security.
Dana Brusca
Dana Brusca has joined ZwillGen as a Legal Director in the Firm’s Washington, DC office. Dana brings to ZwillGen a robust technical background in theoretical mathematics and computer science. Her practice will focus on litigation, investigations by federal and state agencies, and internal investigations related to data breaches and infrastructure security. Dana particularly enjoys helping companies resolve disputes—whether with business partners, consumers, or regulators—that involve a technical component, including with respect to issues arising under the VPPA, CFAA, and ECPA. Prior to joining ZwillGen, Dana was a federal prosecutor for seven years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland where she completed multiple jury trials involving white collar and violent crime. She twice received the U.S. Attorney’s Office Award for Excellence in Prosecution of Fraud and received recognition from the FBI Washington Field Office and ATF for her work.
Nancy Kang
Nancy Kang has joined ZwillGen as Legal Director focusing on international privacy issues in the Firm’s San Francisco office. Nancy’s practice will center around global privacy and data protection issues, including in relation to the GDPR and ePrivacy rules, as well as emerging privacy laws in countries around the globe. She has extensive experience with global product counseling and privacy compliance for mobile apps, video games, entertainment technology, and ad tech and tracking technologies across various platforms.

Prior to joining ZwillGen, Nancy served as Uber’s lead global privacy counsel for digital advertising and marketing, payments and identity risk, freight, and IT engineering.
Ben Thomassen
Ben Thomassen has joined ZwillGen as a Legal Director in Chicago. Ben brings to ZwillGen more than a decade of civil litigation experience, particularly in the areas of consumer privacy and class action cases. At the Firm, Ben will leverage his significant experience gained from the plaintiff’s side of the class action bar, where he represented individuals and certified classes through all stages of litigation in both arbitration and trial/appellate courts. Substantively, Ben’s practice will continue to focus on matters addressing alleged violations of state and federal privacy laws including, among others, the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the Illinois Right of Publicity Act (IRPA), the Stored Communications Act, the Wiretap Act, and the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). Prior to joining ZwillGen, Ben was an attorney at Edelson PC.
