Delaware has become the first state to pass a bill allowing intrastate online gambling–including lotteries, table, and other ticket games. The Delaware Gaming Competitiveness Act of 2012, formerly known as Delaware House Bill 333, authorizes the Delaware Lottery to operate all of the permitted games, to the exclusion of private operators, and emphasizes adopting measures to ensure that all players are located within the state, ensuring the security of accounts, limits on wagering, exclusion of minors, and advertisements for services for compulsive gamblers.
The timeline for announcing and launching such games has not yet been announced, but Delaware appears poised to act in the near future to launch its own state-run online gambling.
