Alex represents clients across an array of advisory and enforcement matters related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and consumer protection.
Privacy & Regulatory Law
Alex helps clients avoid legal risk by designing and developing their products and services in accordance with current and evolving requirements. He counsels clients on consumer protection and corporate compliance matters including children’s and educational privacy, emerging state privacy laws, email and SMS marketing, telemarketing, and telecommunications privacy. Alex also defends clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions by state attorneys general and before federal and state regulators, including the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and represents clients in rulemaking proceedings before the FCC.
Cybersecurity & Crisis Management
Alex is also an experienced cybersecurity attorney, assisting clients with security preparedness, compliance, and incident response. He assists clients in responding to ongoing attacks from Advanced Persistent Threat actors, ransomware events, business email compromise, and other cyber incidents. He coordinates forensic investigations, advises executives and directors, crafts internal and external communications, negotiates with insurers, and engages with law enforcement and regulators. Alex regularly assists in data breach disclosures and advises clients on subsequent class action threats and regulator inquiries.
Prior to joining ZwillGen, Alex was a member of the Connectivity, Privacy, and Information practice in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins LLP, and served as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity & Communications at the Department of Homeland Security.
