Nick’s practice focuses on advising companies on legal and regulatory issues related to online gaming. Nick counsels gaming operators—as well as companies of all kinds that work with the gaming industry—on state and federal compliance matters surrounding sports betting, i-gaming, fantasy sports, and paid-entry online skill gaming. He also has extensive experience navigating the nuances of regulatory licensing requirements for gaming operators and vendors, having supported clients through those processes for nearly every new U.S. state market launch for regulated fantasy sports, sports betting, and i-gaming in recent years.
Nick is also the Managing Director of ZG Gaming Solutions, an affiliate company that provides efficient, scalable, full-service gaming licensing management to operators and service providers alike—see below for more information.
Nick has also represented numerous clients in complex litigation disputes. As a litigator, Nick has handled cases involving a wide range of issues related to online services and content, including privacy, cybersecurity, gaming, copyright, and trade secrets (among others). Nick has particular experience defending companies in complex class action and similar proceedings. He has also assisted clients in responding to significant investigations and inquiries from federal and state regulators, as well as handling demands for user data from law enforcement and private litigants.
Prior to joining ZwillGen, Nick practiced at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York City. While at Cravath, Nick advised and represented clients in a variety of litigation matters, including complex securities class actions and copyright and trademark-related disputes. Nick also counseled clients on intellectual property and privacy issues in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and other significant commercial transactions, including drafting and negotiating patent, trade secret, and trademark licenses and conducting IP due diligence. Nick also has prior experience at a public interest organization litigating a variety of civil rights cases, with an emphasis on matters involving the privacy of personal and medical information as well as censorship.
Nick received his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, graduating with High Honors. While in law school, Nick served as the Texas Law Review’s first-ever Online Content Editor.
